Medical doctor specialized in acupuncture with a background of 20 years of clinical experience. Dr. Mario has integrated knowledge from several areas of medicine through a solid professional formation and constant knowledge upgrading.  His goal for himself, as well as for his patients, is the Greek maxim consolidated by Hippocrates, "Sit mens sana in corpore sano" (a sound mind in a sound body).

  • Specialized in Physiatry (Rehabilitation Medicine) at FCMSCSP, from 1990 to 1992.
  • Specialized in Sports Medicine at Escola Paulista de Medicina (EPM- UNIFESP) from 1993 to 1994.
  • Specialized in Medicinal Acupuncture at Brazilian Medical Society of Acupuncture (SOMA-SP) from 1993 to 1996.
  • Postgraduate specialization program in Medical Acupuncture at Harvard Medical School (2011-2013).
  • Board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by Brazilian Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (SBMFR) and Brazilian Medical Society (AMB).
  • Board certified in Acupuncture by Brazilian Medical College of Acupunture (CMBA) and Brazilian Medical Society (AMB). 
  • Board certified in Sports Medicine by Brazilian Society of Sports Medicine (SBME) and Brazilian Medical Society (AMB).
  • Master degree (MSc) in Medicine from FCMSCSP.
  • MBA in Health Care Management from Insper-SP.
  • Associate Professor in Physiatry and Assistant Physician at the Rehabiliation Centre of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Santa Casa de São Paulo from 1993 to 2005.
  • Preceptor and instructor of medical trainees at the Integrated Study Center of Chinese Medicine (CEIMEC) affiliated to Brazilian Medical Society of Acupuncture from 2002 to 2004.

  • Brazilian Swimming Federation Team Physician since 1996. International experience with elite athletes, participated in 6 editions of the World swimming championships; World Water Polo League; Pan American Water Polo Championships; South American Swimming Championships.
  • Pioneer in integrating acupuncture treatment in elite athletes rehabilitation protocol.
  • Dr. Mario is the author of several scientific studies and book chapters, and is the scientific reviewer for translations of medical books from English language into Portuguese.
